We’ll have live music by The Sheet; free food and beverages; basketball, bags and pickleball; and an opportunity to meet those responsible for public safety in downtown. You’re invited!

Join us as we show our Des Moines pride by carrying our DNA banner in the Iowa State Fair parade. If you’re a member and would like to walk in the parade, contact us for lineup time and location information.

Join us for an evening of socializing and learning from our esteemed guests as they share their wealth of experience about enhancing Des Moines parks, trails and waterways. Learn about plans for new parks, new county facilities such as Lauridsen Skate Park, and the future of ICON water trails. Our guests are Dr. Stephanie Oppel, Exec. Director of ICON Water Trails; Rich Leopold, Dir. Polk County Conservation; and Jenny Richmond, Des Moines Parks & Recreation.

Downtown DSM Architectural History Walking Tour

Members, join us on Sunday, October 13 at 1:00 pm for a journey through the history of downtown Des Moines hosted in conjunction with DNA Nonprofit Member, Iowa Architectural Foundation. Fellow downtown resident, DNA member and local architect, Ryan Ellsworth, AIA of INVISION Architecture (located in the former Des Moines Social Club [historically known as Firehouse No. 1], will take attendees on a private walking tour exclusively for the Downtown Neighborhood Association. Learn about the gems we have right in our backyard while understanding the historical and cultural contexts in which they were built. Tickets are $20 per person and the tour will last for 90 minutes. Be sure to wear comfortable walking shoes.
